For our client, a Worldwide leading commercial insurance company, we recruit a Loss Adjuster. This position will be based in our Madrid office.
The Adjuster will have responsibility for determining liability under policy terms and conditions and evaluating/negotiating settlements with senior insured personnel, brokers and other insurers. This activity will include the appointment and supervision of a wide range of consultants, for which the adjuster is responsible. They will also take action to prevent further loss and preserve any salvage and subrogation possibilities. In the handling of the insured’s BI losses, the ability to understand the insured’s business, the impact on the P&L account and evaluation of the monetary exposure will be required.
The role involves a considerable amount of autonomy and international travel, sometimes at short notice.
Applicants should be fluent in Spanish, English and Italian (or Portuguese), educated to engineering degree level and have had 2 – 3 years’ experience of working at a senior level within a professional capacity, i.e. insurance, engineering, surveying etc. First class written and oral communication skills are essential, as is a high level of numeracy.
The position requires the postholder to be a self-motivated and credible individual who is able to command respect from insured management and who possesses sharp intellect to negotiate settlements at Board level.
